Project Description :
Seeking a Mid-Level Technical Writer to assist and support the Information Technology team on a range of large-scale projects. Must be able to create and edit a myriad training, promotional and technical content for training videos, pamphlets, articles, one-pagers, executive summaries, copy/content for websites/web pages, charters, instruction sets, SOPs, user guides and white papers. Period of Performance: November 4, 2024 to December 31, 2024, will be open to renewal on an annual basis. Performance Location: Washington, DC, This position is 40 hours per week available during core hours is required (10 am - 3 pm ET). Some onsite presence is required, a minimum of 1 day per week. A writing assessment will be administered during the interview process.
Qualification Requirements :
Work Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of technical writing experience. Preferred Skills: • Agile methodologies • Knowledge Management • SharePoint content administration *** US Citizenship Required *** BS/BA in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field HIGHLY DESIRABLE
Skills Requirements :
Technical Skills: • At least seven years' experience producing technical documentation for multiple platforms according to software development lifecycles (SDLCs), including DevOps, Agile, Lean, Iterative, or Waterfall. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
Responsibilities :
Ability to: • Create and edit a myriad of training, promotional, professional, and technical content (e.g., training videos, pamphlets, articles, one-pagers, executive summaries, copy/content for websites/web pages, charters, instruction sets, SOPs, user guides, white papers). • Use video editing and production software such as Camtasia. • Prepare and edit technical guidance (e.g. policies and procedures), best practices, briefings, operations and maintenance manuals, software and system documentation, API documentation, developer tutorials, and other materials as needed. • Collaborate with and coordinate the efforts of subject matter experts and multiple technical contributors to produce content. • Produce project documentation. • Produce and apply style guides and design guidelines to ensure a consistent presentation of information. • Proofread large technical documents for spelling, grammar, usage, textual errors, and appropriate tone. • Conduct technical research as needed to produce content. • Translate complex concepts into useable, audience-appropriate text and graphics. • Provide general desktop support (i.e., resolving problems with software, hardware, configurations, etc.), including workstations and peripherals.
